Darius Miller is an engineer, inventor, winemaker, and author whose career has been defined by turning ambitious ideas into practical innovations. Holding degrees in Industrial Engineering and Computer Science, he spent more than three decades developing advanced technologies for government, defense, and commercial applications, leading the creation of mission-critical software, communications systems, and emerging products that bridged research with real-world deployment. He is the sole inventor of U.S. Patent 8,505,818 B2 and the owner of the registered trademarks Koi Zen Cellars® and Barrel in a Bottle®. Having spent decades creating advanced technologies, Darius understands both the extraordinary promise of innovation and the profound ethical questions it inevitably raises.

In 2015, Darius and his wife, Lisa, fulfilled a lifelong dream by founding Koi Zen Cellars, a family-owned boutique winery in San Diego, California. Their award-winning wines have earned recognition in national and international competitions, while the winery has become equally known for its educational programs, community events, and welcoming atmosphere. Whether teaching a wine class, leading a blending seminar, or simply sharing a bottle with guests, Darius believes that wine is best experienced through curiosity, conversation, and community.

OmniVis: The Ghost Protocol is Darius’s fourth book, following Fallow Minds, The Zen Winemaker, and The Zen Wine Tasting Journal. Drawing upon a lifetime spent developing advanced technologies, OmniVis explores artificial intelligence, surveillance, privacy, and the ethical responsibilities that accompany innovation. His goal is to write intelligent thrillers grounded in believable science and engineering while remaining accessible to readers who simply enjoy a compelling story.

When he isn’t writing or making wine, Darius enjoys exploring the intersection of technology, human behavior, and lifelong learning. Many of the ideas woven throughout his fiction are inspired by real technological trends, but the questions his stories ask are ultimately about people: How much of ourselves should we surrender for convenience? Where should innovation stop? And who decides?

Darius and Lisa have been married for thirty-nine years and live in San Diego. They are the proud parents of twin daughters and recently welcomed their first grandson, Roman. He is currently at work on the next novel in the OmniVis series, continuing to explore the rapidly evolving relationship between humanity and the technologies we create.
